Have you noticed that spinach takes on the flavour of whatever you cook it with?
That’s my tip this Tuesday. I put spinach into every sauce or meal that I can to up our intake of greens. The kids never complain about spinach. Sure, they won’t eat sauteed spinach, but mix it into spaghetti sauce or chili — no problem at all.
It’s milder taste incorporates well into other dishes. I also use bok choy and chard, but only in stronger sauces or dishes, as I know these will add a different flavour to the meal.
Spinach packs a power punch.
Do any Google search, or read any book where the topic is spinach and you’ll find nothing but good things. Spinach is a power-packed “superfood.” Loaded with tons of nutrients, this dark leafy green provides adequate servings of protein, iron, vitamins, and minerals. It also helps improve blood glucose control, lowers the risk of various cancers, and the list goes on and on and on.
It’s an easy way to increase greens for those adverse to increasing their greens! If you do the cooking for your family, it’s a super easy way to increase that dark leafy goodness without them even realizing you’re doing it. 😉
