Recipe: Chocolate Orange Salad Dressing

You read that right. Chocolate on salad? Yes!

I was introduced to Torino Chocolate Dark Balsamic Vinegar and Blood Orange Infused Olive Oil at my local oil and vinegar specialty store, Prairie Oils & Vinegars in Steinbach [Canada]. If you live in the area check them out! Wonderful customer service. Or stop by your local oil and vinegar shop.

The recipe is simple, pour equal parts of the oil and vinegar into a dressing mixer and there you go. Drizzle this on your favourite garden or spinach salad and enjoy. This really is just a drizzle. Both of these ingredients are very intense and it won’t take much for them to take over your salad. Just a bit goes a long way. And your taste buds will jump for joy!

I haven’t tried it yet, however, I was advised that using this as a fruit dipper (sparingly) is out of this world. I imagine trying it with strawberries or chunks of banana would be outstanding….I just got the idea of adding it to banana nice-cream! I will post when I try this! Or, if you beat me to it, let me know what you think.

If you’re curious what ingredients are in my salad:

  • Living Butterhead lettuce
  • Radish
  • Avocado
  • Cucumber
  • Granny Smith Apple
  • A few black olives
