Well, as much as I came up a bit short on ideas last week, this week brought an abundance of ideas to share! So let’s dive in:

I usually make smoothies for breakfast, however, a breakfast from the past that I missed was granola and yogurt. Now, being dairy-free, and as sugar-free as possible, I had forgone this favourite. Until recently, I discovered a locally made granola (sweetened with maple syrup), added coconut or almond plain yogurt (no sugar, no dairy), with a drizzle of melted honey to the yogurt (okay, technically added sugar, but I’m in control of the amount.) It’s still a properly combined starch breakfast and OH! SO! YUMMY! In the past I also would have added berries, however, that being non-food combining compliant, I for-go the berries and it still tastes wonderful!
Protein: Roasted chicken breast with onions and Applewood Hickory Smoked BBQ sauce and a side of cauliflower rice, peas, and red and green pepper, seasoned with chili powder, garlic powder, sweet paprika, salt and pepper.
Starch: Pumpernickel toast sandwich with Daiya Onion and Chive “creamcheese” spread, butterhead lettuce, home grown mixed sprouts, cucumber, and avocado. Delicious! That avocado just adds so much creaminess.
Protein: In-store made meatloaf (an occasional treat), sauteed rainbow chard, and cherry tomatoes.
Starch: Zucchini Hazelnut Flatbread. Protein flatbread (store bought, but would still be considered a starch, it’s bread!), sauteed zucchini and onion, crushed (in a food processor) hazelnuts, on a sun-dried tomato pesto sauce. These were amazing. I also added a black olive paste to mine!
Starch: Sante Fe Buddha Bowl from Tundra Grill at Assiniboine Park Zoo (sans chicken option) with Avocado dressing. We went out for Father’s Day and this Buddha bowl is to die for! Also an example of eating out and staying compliant.
Protein: These two pictures are actually the same Greek turkey burgers with homemade tzatziki sauce, but first is as supper and second is as lunch (leftovers). For supper I had it layered with butterhead lettuce and for lunch I had it with mixed greens and some cut veggies. I will post my recipe for these burgers because they were so tasty, plus my hubby had a fun take on how to eat these, but not quite food combining compliant, so that’s for another post!
